PESTOLA

Host Dr. Melissa Hamm
Guest Expert Dr. Perrin White

In this episode on Adrenal, we will take a closer look at Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia - a genetic disorder of cortisol biosynthesis. By the early 1980s, it was understood that any of 5 enzymatic defects could cause this disease, with 21-hydroxylase deficiency accounting for over 90% of cases.

Joining us to discuss the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment is Dr. Perrin White - the director of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Children's Health℠, which diagnoses and treats children with conditions of the major endocrine glands, such as the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, gonads, and endocrine pancreas. He is also a professor of pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, in Texas.
